Darrin Wesley Bushong is being held in the Ada County Jail on a charge of lewd conduct after Meridian police say he had illegal sexual contact with two children under the age of 16 several times since 2008.

Boise police arrested the 38-year-old Bushong Tuesday on the lewd conduct warrant.

Meridian police say they began investigating the case in March after getting a call from a third party.

Police officials say Detectives found evidence Bushong had illegal sexual contact with two children at a Meridian home since 2008. The children were known to Bushong, according to reports.

Meridian police turned the results of their investigation over to Ada County prosecutors, who issued an arrest warrant for Bushong earlier this month. Police officials say Bushong did not have access to those children between when they began investigating and his arrest Tuesday.

Bushong will make his initial court appearance later Wednesday.

The crime of lewd conduct is punishable by up to life in prison.
