The 2011 Fourth of July fireworks display will start at about 10:15 p.m. in Ann Morrison Park. The event is free to the public and will be simulcast on KIVI Channel 6 and 107.1 K-Hits.
Earlier in the day, don’t miss the Idaho Statesman Chalk Art Festival, presented by Craft Warehouse.
Aspiring artists of all skill levels 12 and older can draw their own masterpieces on the park’s sidewalks from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pre-registration ($10) is required at www.IdahoStatesman.com/ChalkArt. Chalk will be provided. The event will benefit children’s programs at the Boise Art Museum. Spectators can vote for the People’s Choice Award, sponsored by KeyBank.
You’ll also be able to watch featured artists Liz Wolf, Rick Thomson, Geoff Everts and Ed Anderson create chalk art. Kids younger than 12 can enjoy their own Chalk Land, sponsored by St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, for free from 1 to 4 p.m. Boise Parks and Recreation’s Mobile Recreation Program will provide free kids activities from 1 to 7 p.m.
Live music, new to the event this year, will be performed on the Peterson Toyota Stage by The Mystics, the Boise Community Band and Pilot Error. Food vendors will also be on hand.
The annual fireworks display is possible because of support from the City of Boise, the Idaho Statesman, KIVI Today’s 6, 107.1 K-Hits, Fred Meyer, Boise Housing Corporation, Tomlinson & Associates, Rocky Mountain Audio Visual, Idaho Independent Bank, Northwest Nazarene University School of Business, George and Bev Harad, Idaho Power, Intermountain Gas Co., J.R. Simplot Co. and the Micron Foundation.
