HIGHLANDS HOLLOW BREWHOUSE

2455 Harrison Hollow Lane, Boise, 343-6820

The Treasure Valley is full of brewpubs and good beer bars, but perhaps the most “Boise” of the bunch is this year’s winner: Highlands Hollow Brewhouse.

Nestled in Boise’s North End just off Bogus Basin Road, Highlands Hollow is the funky ski lodge in the winter or post-bike ride/dog walk destination for so many Boise beer nuts. It’s got a canine-friendly patio, too.

Jim Fishwild created most of the Hollow’s best-known beers, which are now brewed by Chris Compton. The Hollow is perhaps best known for the deliciously balanced Fiegwild English-style pale ale. The Spoon Tongue Ale and Berry Good Wheat beers are a big hit during the summer thirst-quenching season, and hop lovers get to enjoy the Hippie Shake. Most times, the Hollow has nine homegrown brews on tap, so there is plenty of variety to go around.
