Banking
Tammy Chavez has been hired as a vice president and relationship manager for Treasure Valley business banking at KeyBank. Chavez will provide expertise and financial solutions to small business clients that generate annual revenues up to $15 million.
Chavez joins KeyBank after five years at Mountain West Bank, where she handled more than $20 million in business loan relationships. She also supported local businesses as a commercial loan officer at Farmers & Merchant Bank. Chavez began her career in banking in 1999 with U.S. Bank in Boise.
Chavez studied accounting and small business management at Mohave Community College in Bullhead City, Ariz. She is a board member of Idahos RMA Chapter and is active in Junior Achievement.
Kelly Galloway was named store manager at the Garden City branch of Wells Fargo. Galloway is responsible for business development, community activities, staff training and development, branch operations and customer service. Galloway, who has 17 years experience in financial services with seven as a store manager, joined Wells Fargo in 2010 as a personal banker in Emmett. She has served in the roles of teller, new accounts, service manager, branch manager and relationship manager. She attends Boise State University, where she is studying communications.
Matthew E. Gilgen has been appointed assistant vice president and assistant branch manager at the Boise West State office of D.L. Evans Bank. Gilgen, an alumnus of the University of Idaho, has been in banking for many years. He is president-elect of the Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho.
Construction
Brighton Homes of Meridian was named the 2010/2011 Idaho Builder of the Year by Northwest Energy Star Homes, based on its leadership in building energy-efficient homes that exceed industry standards. Homes that receive the Energy Star label are at least 15 percent more efficient than homes built to state building codes.
The Northwest Energy Star Homes program is a regional initiative intended to promote the construction of energy-efficient homes using EPA guidelines.
Architecture and engineering firm CSHQA announced that Ling & Louies Asian Bar and Grill, which opened in April in Meridian, has earned two Green Globes from the Green Building Initiative based on its innovative sustainable design. Green Globes is a green building guidance and assessment program to advance the overall environmental performance and sustainability of commercial buildings.
Located in The Portico at Meridian, Ling & Louies is a collaboration between CSHQAs architects and engineers, Jeff Balzarini of interior design firm Studio 32 and restaurateur Rex Chandler of Chandlers Steakhouse in Downtown Boise, also designed by CSHQA.
Education
James D. Hansen, who founded United Vision for Idaho in 1995 and was executive director for 13 years, has been named College of Idahos director of development.
Hansen served as executive director of the Idaho Democratic Party and served for six years in the Idaho State Legislature. Hansen earned his bachelors degree from the College of William and Mary and his law degree from the University of Idaho.
He is an active civic leader who has served as president and treasurer of the Rotary Club of Boise-Sunrise, as president and a board member of Opening Doors, and on boards of directors of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival and Idaho Mediation Association.
Government
Susan Wheeler, Lindsay Nothern, Mandy Critchfield and Peter Stegner of Sen. Mike Crapos Washington, D.C., office have been promoted after the retirement of Crapos D.C. Chief of Staff Peter Fischer.
Wheeler, who has worked for Crapo in various capacities since 1992, will take Fischers place as chief of staff in the D.C. office; she was his communications director. An Idaho native, Wheeler graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1979 and received a bachelors degree in journalism from Brigham Young University in 1984. Wheeler has worked as a TV reporter and news manager in Idaho Falls and Boise.
Nothern will be promoted to communications director; he has been the senators press secretary. Nothern, who has lived in Idaho for more than 25 years, was raised in the upper Midwest, graduating from Moorhead State University in 1978 with a bachelors degree in mass communications.
Before joining Crapo, Nothern worked in television news as news director at two Boise stations and produced a statewide TV program on outdoor issues. He also served as press secretary for Gov. Phil Batt, joining Crapos office in 1999.
Critchfield, who has been deputy press secretary, is being promoted to press secretary. Originally from Oakley, Critchfield graduated from Oakley High School in 2003 and received her degree in political science from Brigham Young University. She has served as staff assistant and as an intern for Crapo.
Stegner, who has served as regional director and a staff assistant at the North-Central Regional Office in Lewiston for more than three years, becomes Crapos new media director, and will relocate to work out of the D.C. office.
Stegner, a native of northern Idaho, holds a masters in English literature and a bachelors degree from the University of Idaho.
Donna Jones, state controller, has been elected to the executive committee of the National Association of State Comptrollers. As one of eight NASC executive committee members, Jones will help lead the organization that represents public finance officials in every state.
The National Association of State Comptrollers works to enhance the effectiveness of state comptrollers and improve financial management in state government through cooperation, shared information, education, and advocacy of issues affecting government finance.
Dana Zuckerman has been appointed to the board of commissioners for the Capital City Development Corporation, Boises redevelopment agency.
Zuckerman was appointed by Mayor Dave Bieter and confirmed by the City Council at its May 10 meeting. She fills the remaining unexpired term of Andy Simonds, who had served on the board since 2007. Zuckermans term will expire Sept. 10, 2012.
Zuckerman is a volunteer at Washington Elementary School and a member of the Youth Advisory Board at the Downtown YMCA and the board of Congregation Ahavath Beth Israel.
Prior to coming to Boise, she served on city planning committees and as a planning consultant in Massachusetts, Illinois and New York. Zuckerman holds a masters degree of public policy from the University of Chicago and a bachelors degree from McGill University in Montreal.

Hospitality and tourism
Sam Martin has joined LiveRez.com, a provider of software as a service solutions for vacation rental managers, as its new manager of search engine optimization and search engine marketing.
Martin joins the staff after a two-year stint as a media buyer at Balihoo, where he managed more than 100 search engine marketing campaigns. He also planned and purchased traditional media advertising for clients across the United States.
At LiveRez.com, Martin will manage campaigns for the business and its base of nearly 500 professional property manager partners.
Other businesses
The Kuna Melba News won three awards in the 2010 Idaho Press Club contest. The newspaper won a first place, a second place and a third place in the weekly print division in the following categories: Business Reporting, first place (tie with Trevon Milliard of the Idaho Mountain Express) Kuna man publishes guide for sports pennants; Education Reporting, second place, Is kindergarten schedule working? and General Column, third place, Editors Notebook.
The Kuna Melba News is a locally owned and operated weekly newspaper based in Kuna. Started in 1982, the newspaper has been owned by Scott and Nicola McIntosh of Kuna since September 2006.
David Allen has joined KBOI and KTIK as the new program director of 93.1 FM KTIK and 670AM News Radio KBOI.
Allen comes to Boise from Dallas, where he was assistant program director of news/talk WABP-AM since 1999. Prior to Dallas, Allen was the assistant program director at News Radio 770 KKOB in Albuquerque, N.M.
Professional and trade association
Phyllis Adkins, CEO of TruGrocer Credit Union in Boise, was awarded the Outstanding Professional of the Year award by the Idaho Credit Union League. Adkins began a career at Albertsons Federal Credit Union (now TruGrocer) more than three decades ago. She became president and CEO 17 years ago.
She is a proponent of education and supports employees in attending the Credit Union National Association Management School, from which she graduated. Adkins has served the Idaho Credit Union League in various capacities, including as a member of the League and League Services Inc. boards of directors. Under Adkins direction, the credit union has supported Paint the Town, the Boise River Festival, Adopt a Family, the Idaho FoodBank, the American Red Cross Cell Phone Collection, United Way and Toys for Tots.
Jeanine Eiband, Cam Purchase and Julie Edgar have been named to the Idaho Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators 2011-12 Board of Directors. Eiband, human resources manager for Hawley Troxell, will serve as president. Purchase, office manager for Capitol Law Group, will serve as vice president, and Edgar, manager of law and administration for Boise Inc., will again serve as secretary/treasurer. The chapter consists of members from various statewide law firms and corporate legal departments.
The Idaho Centennial Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants has elected new officers for the 2011-12 program year. Elected were Melonie Bartolome, Idaho Department of Commerce, president; Brandon Purcell, Idaho State Controllers Office, president-elect; Judy Shock, Endowment Fund Investment Board, treasurer; and Rosemary McClenahan, Idaho State Historical Society, secretary.
Natalie Bartley, a Boise-based writer and photographer, was elected to the board of directors with the Northwest Outdoor Writers Association of America for a three-year term. Bartley also does freelance work for the Idaho Statesman.
