Evelia D. Montenegro, 56, of Jerome, was ejected and died about 5:17 a.m. Saturday when the Ford van she was riding in slid off the icy, snowy road into the median of Interstate 84 and rolled, Idaho State Police reported.

Three children were ejected and treated at Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert for various injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Another 12-year-old child, who also was ejected, was flown to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, with critical injuries.

Martha Linares, 63, of Shoshone, is believed to have been partially ejected. She was treated at St. Benedict's Hospital in Jerome, and later transferred to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls.

Rafael Linares, age unknown, also from Shoshone, admitted to St. Luke's of Magic Valley.

One child was not ejected, but was treated for injuries at Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert.

Carlos Campos Ramirez, the 38-year-old driver of Twin Falls, and Maria Campos, a passenger, were not injured and are believed to have been wearing their seat belts.

Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in this crash.

This crash is under investigation.

About 20 crashes or slide-offs on I-84 in Jerome County were reported between 5:15 and 10 a.m.

This was the second van crash in three days. On Thursday, a van full of college-age students in a church group rolled on Interstate 84 near Baker City. Two people were killed and 14 others were injured.
