Parma earned the right to defend its 2A state championship Friday afternoon in Glenns Ferry with a 49-6 rout of the Pilots.

The Panthers will play Declo or New Plymouth in next week's title game.

"A trip back to the championship game, a 21-game winning streak, there's a lot to be excited about," Parma coach Greg Asbury said. "We went down there very businesslike and just got after it."

The Panthers (10-0) produced 603 yards of offense - triple Glenns Ferry's total of 201. Parma also had 18 first downs, while the Pilots (8-3) produced five.

Lance Johnson led Parma's ground game with 116 of his team's 328 rushing yards and quarterback Trevor Kramer completed 13-of-17 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns.

The Panthers' defense, meanwhile, clamped down on Glenns Ferry's offense after Michael Crane scored on an 85-yard touchdown on his first carry. The Pilots finished with 101 yards on the ground.

"A lot of teams might panic, but our kids settled down and stuffed him the rest of the game," Asbury said.

SHELLEY 19, WEISER 7

Weiser jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 69-yard touchdown pass from Austin Winegar to Darin Thomas, but it proved to be the Wolverines' final visit to the end zone this season.

Weiser's offense sputtered against a stout Shelley defense the rest of the way, but its defense kept the Wolverines close throughout the 3A semifinal game.

Shelley tied the score in the second quarter on a 6-yard run by Aaron Adams and scored the go-ahead TD on a 12-yard run by Cory Phillips with 5:07 remaining in the game. McCade Bono sealed the Shelley victory with a 42-yard scoring run in the final minute.
