  T he Boise State football team will appear at least six times on ESPN channels this season - including three straight Friday nights in November and a Tuesday on the blue in October. But while TV sometimes creates scheduling problems, this year the odd dates might actually help the Broncos. They get two bye weeks and only play one game (at Idaho) on short preparation. ESPN still could grab one more game, likely for ESPNU.

  BETTER THAN REALITY TV

  The WAC championship race likely will play out in prime time in November. The Broncos face the WAC's other three 2009 bowl teams on consecutive Friday nights - Idaho, Fresno State and Nevada. The Nevada game decided the WAC title last year. "We've carved out a signature window, which is Friday night in the WAC," commissioner Karl Benson said.

  Boise State is scheduled to play three Friday games, one Tuesday game and one Monday game this year. The Broncos also have played on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays in recent years.

  As for TV, Mountain West games air on one of three cable networks - Versus, CBS College Sports or The Mtn. Games rarely are shown on free, local TV and Mountain West teams only appear on ESPN when they play nonconference road games against schools with ESPN contracts or in bowl games.
