Two ranked teams are better than one. That was the rationale behind ESPN's decision to send its "College GameDay" show to Fort Worth, Texas, this week to broadcast from the Utah-TCU game. Both are ranked in the top 16 of the Bowl Championship Series standings.
That game beat out Boise State-Idaho. "GameDay" never has originated from a WAC stadium. Spokesman Michael Humes cited the opponent - unranked Idaho - as a key reason Boise was snubbed.
The decision sends "GameDay" to its second TCU game and third Mountain West Conference game in four weeks. That's likely to ruffle some feathers in the WAC, which schedules its best games on non-Saturdays to please ESPN. The Mountain West doesn't have a deal with the TV giant.
