Firefighters clean up after an early Wednesday morning fire at 5283 Missoula.

An Ada County Sheriff's deputy and two residents of a home near Southwest Boise were being treated for smoke inhalation after the deputy helped an elderly woman get out of a burning home Wednesday morning.

The medical condition of the occupants was unavailable Wednesday morning, but preliminary reports indicate the woman, who is in her 80s, was not breathing when the deputy and a sergeant pulled her outside the home and began CPR. Ada County Sheriff's Deputy Carl Olson was treated at a local hospital and released Wednesday morning.

Paramedics were able to revive the woman, who was then taken to a local hospital. A man in his 30s in the home and the deputy are also being treated for smoke inhalation, according to Boise fire reports.

A neighbor of the home, located at 5319 Missoula Way, called 911 around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to report the house was on fire and there was an elderly woman who lived there.

Olson, who got to the home first, went inside but was unable to find the woman. That deputy was joined by Sgt. Joe Wright. Both Wright and Olson left the home, went around back and went through a window to save the woman from her bedroom. The man was also inside but he was able to get out of his own, according to reports.

The home was actively burning when fire crews arrived. The fire caused significant damage to the garage and an adjacent room, and there is heavy smoke damage to the rest of the home, according to fire reports.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the blaze.
