Grand Prize Winner: Jerry W. Britton -- Easley Creek First Snow. Odd numbers have been good to Jerry Britton of Antioch, Calif. He picked up his third grand prize in the Idaho Outdoors photo contest in 2009, and his previous wins came in 2007 and 2005. Britton returns to Idaho annually to visit his cabin at Easley Creek in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The landscape around Easley Creek is the subject of this year's winner. He shot it in color in 2005, but he preferred it as a black and white. "When I put it in black and white, it just popped out," he said. Britton said he's entered the annual photo contest for about seven years and had his photos selected for some award every year but one. Easley Creek and the Sawtooth area are among his favorite subjects. "Everybody has some place that's just meaningful," he said. "And this part of Idaho is my most meaningful place." The 71-year-old retiree is no newcomer to Easley Creek. His family has owned property there since 1926. This year's winning photo was taken on a fishing trip when he saw storm clouds in the mountains. "When you start getting certain weather, you stop and take a longer look," he said.
