Major David D. Miller, a native of Parma, has been promoted to the field grade command rank of lieutenant colonel. Miller is the Mission Support Group Commander of the Combat Readiness Training Center, Savannah, Ga. Miller was commissioned in the Air National Guard in 1994, serving in the Idaho Air National Guard's 190th Fighter Squadron of the 124 Fighter Wing, Gowen Field. He joined the Georgia Air National Guard in 1997.

Seaman 3rd class William Emerson, son of Dennis and Vicki Emerson, Boise, and a 2003 graduate of Capitol High, has graduated from Naval Great Lakes training command, Illinois.

Navy Fireman Margret N. Haug, a 2006 graduate of Central Academy High School, Meridian, has completed U.S. Navy basic training and was meritoriously promoted to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Air Force Senior Airman Brittanie D. Pierce, daughter of Deborah Riley of Meridian, has competed in Air Force Space Command's Outstanding Airmen of the Year 2008 at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colo. The competition recognizes 12 outstanding active-duty enlisted professionals who represent superior leadership, job performance, community involvement and personal achievements. Pierce is a personnel readiness technician assigned to Headquarters Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base.

The following have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.: Army Pvt. Anthony D. Covarrubias, son of Denise and stepson of Ryan Small of Meridian, a 2008 graduate of Central Academy, Meridian; Army Pvt. Nathaniel A. Hollenbaugh, son of Lori Hollenbaugh of Meridian, a 2008 graduate of Mountain View High School; Army Pvt. Michael A. Henderson, son of Marianne Henderson of Boise; and Army Pfc. Eric L. Spjute, son of Wayne Spjute of Boise, a 2002 graduate of Borah High School, Boise.

The following have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla: Army Pfc. Mitchel K. Gardner, son of Linda and Robert Gardner of Mountain Home, a 2002 graduate of Mountain Home High School; Army Pfc. Samuel L. Sayre, son of Dan Sayre of Caldwell, a 2007 graduate of New Plymouth High School; and Army Pfc. Nicholas J. Corisis, son of Bridgett Oliver of Meridian, and Jim Corisis of Boise, a 2000 graduate of Meridian High School.

The following have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas: Air Force Airman Jeremy D. Price, son of Mark Price of Caldwell, a 2008 graduate of Emmett High School; Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Brittney M. Meeker, daughter of Larry Meeker of Meridian, a 2006 graduate of Mountain View High School; Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Kevin J. Hunter, son of Wayne and Rebecca Hunter of Caldwell, a 2003 graduate of Kuna High School; and Air National Guard Airman Anthony J. Kalousek, son of Lisa Kalousek of Kuna; Air Force Airman Latanya S. Tidwell.

The following have graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.: Army Pvt. Robert E. Dyas, son of Jerry and Melissa Nowland of Nampa; Army Reserve Pvt. Travis M. Taddickew, son of Michael and Julie Taddickew of Boise, a 2008 graduate of Borah High School; and Army Pvt. Jason L. Kilzer, son of Darryl Kilzer and Sarah Siedler, both of Nampa, a 2006 graduate of Skyview High School.
