MERIDIAN- Challis E. McAffee, 33, was charged with felony aggravated assault after police say he pulled a handgun on a resident whose home he told police he was photographing as part of a foreclosure investigation.

Police say McAffee was shooting photographs at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the home - in the 2200 block of Ditch Creek Street, near the Chinden Boulevard/Linder Road neighborhood - when a resident came outside and began questioning what McAffee was doing.

A verbal argument ensued which ended when the resident said McAffee pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the resident, police say. McAffee is a member of the Ada County Republican Central Committee. The charge of felony aggravated assault is punishable by up to five years in prison.
