Shooting Stars Basketball: Program for boys and girls in kindergarten and first grades is designed to provide a fun, challenging sports experience that emphasizes learning skills and sports values rather than pure competition. Each team has one 45-minute practice per week at the Nampa Rec Center. Practices are held during the evenings and games are played on Saturday mornings at the NRC. Snake River Sabercats: Semi-professional team of the Rocky Mountain Football league is gearing up for the 2010 season. "Run For Ryan" Stockdale: 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Meet at Middleton Heights on Cemetery Road at 8 a.m. There is a 1.5-mile and a 4.3-mile route. The run ends at Mill Creek Elementary on Middleton Road with a celebration. There is no charge, just help fill the cowboy boots and barrels to help pay for Ryan's expenses. TRIATHLON

Y-Not Triathlon: 6:30 p.m. Thursday at ParkCenter Pond. It is geared for all levels of tri-athletes including beginners. The distances are 400-meter swim, 6-mile bike, and a 2-mile run. The swim takes place in ParkCenter Pond. Five divisions are offered: experienced, beginners, intermediate, teams, and youth 17 and under. Youth teams swim 400 meters, bike 6 miles and run 1 mile. Cost is $51 general, $36 youth, and $76 for teams of three people. The last day to enter due to nearing capacity of the event is on Wednesday at packet pickup from 5 to 7 p.m., located at the finish line area across from the Red Robin on ParkCenter Boulevard. VOLLEYBALL

Adult Fall Co-ed Volleyball: Teams are invited to register from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Aug. 14 at the City Recreation Office. Games are played at Fort Boise Community Center and Fairmont Junior High. League runs from September to mid-November. Players must be 16 years old or older. Team fee is $245, plus $20 USSSA fee.
