Idaho state controller Donna Jones will seek a second term as the state’s top fiscal officer.
Jones, a Republican, a Payette native and former co-chairwoman of the Idaho House Revenue and Taxation Committee, became the first woman elected Idaho state controller in 2006. Before that she ran an auto parts stores and a real estate brokerage for 30 years and served as the executive director of the Idaho Real Estate Commission.
“Whenever you are the first to do anything people watch you pretty closely,” she said. “I am extremely proud of the fact that we have been able to cut budget, reduce staff and save the taxpayers money during this first term.”
The controller pays state bills and state employees, maintains centralized financial management reporting and accounting systems and manages the state's central Computer Service Center.
