Warm Lake

Published: May 21, 2008

Boise National Forest

This is a remote campground with lots of services, thanks to several Forest Service campgrounds and private lodges at the lake. It's a mountain lake at moderate elevation, which means it has a pretty long season, but it stays pretty cool in the summers.

How to get there: Take Idaho 55 north to Cascade and Warm Lake Highway 25 miles to the lake.

Activities: Boating, fishing, swimming, hiking and riding.

Amenities: Picnic tables and grills, fire rings, pit toilets, hand pumps for water.

Nearest place to get supplies: There are some supplies at the lodges on the lake. Otherwise, Cascade is the closest place.

Fees/reservations: $10 per night and $20 for double sites. Some are on the reservation system. Call (877) 444-6777 or visit www.recreation.gov.

Information: Log on to www.fs.fed.us/r4/boise/recreation or call (208) 382-7400.
