C.J. Strike Reservoir

February 27, 2008

What's there: Bass, crappie, bluegill, trout, sturgeon, catfish, perch and carp.

Description: The 7,500-acre C.J. is one of the most productive reservoirs in Idaho, but unlike many other reservoirs, it is almost always full of water. There's lots of access around the reservoir, as well as boat launches, developed and undeveloped camping areas and a private resort.

Strike is at its best during spring. There are abundant fish, and they tend to be fairly easy to catch.

Getting there: Take I-84 east to Mountain Home, and then head south toward Bruneau or Grand View. The best access is on the south side of the reservoir.

Drive time: About 1.5 hours.
