This is usually the best month of the year for steelhead fishing on the Little Salmon River. Hatchery fish arrive in schools, and anglers have easy access to them from the bank.

Watch river levels. If there's rain or warm weather, high water can make fishing tough.

Another option: The Owyhee River has excellent spring insect hatches and good flyfishing for brown trout.
