Trail of the Week: Ponderosa State Park

rphillips@idahostatesman.comOctober 4, 2007

Ponderosa State Park is one of the most popular parks in the state, and for good reason. It's a four-season place that has a lot to offer every month of the year. In the fall, the colors change, and the park shows of its brilliant reds and golds. There's a nice variety of trails, from paved paths to twisty singletrack for mountain biking and other trails dedicated for hikers only. You never know what you're going to encounter weather-wise in the fall. It can be anything from a sunny, warm day to a snowstorm, but that's part of the fun. You're never far from the visitors center or downtown McCall, so a cup of hot chocolate is just minutes away.
