More on Larry Craig, BSU football and Yellowstone Park are in Aug. 30's News from the Web

The Larry Craig story is still topping local, state and national headlines.

The local channel 6 station has a story about how the national media has been in town, including Nightline which aired a story about the incident and the Idaho Statesman’s coverage of it Wednesday night.

Out in the community, it continues to be a topic of conversation. I worked part of my day at the Flying M on Wednesday and overheard several groups of people talking about Craig.

At Tuesday’s showing of “Measure for Measure” at the Shakespeare Festival, the Green Show included a Larry Craig “hairy leg” joke (which elicited perhaps the loudest roar of laughter of the night).

Here’s a few more links to some of what’s out there on the Web about this latest — and closest to home — political scandal:

• A News from the Web reader sent in a link to this blog posting at The Huffington Post, a political liberal online news and opinion Web site founded by Arianna Huffington.

This article ran in the Minneapolis Star Tribune earlier this week. It gives a little more context about the type of activity police were investigating in that now famous airport bathroom.

This entry from the national ABC news looks at the story from the perspective of Craig’s wife Suzanne.

• There are number of video clips on YouTube relating to Craig and the scandal, many of them straight from broadcast media coverage of the incident.

Sample for yourself by searching “Larry Craig” at YouTube, or just click here to watch an older video of Craig calling Bill Clinton a “naughty boy,” back when Clinton was under fire for the Monica Lewinsky incident.

Click here to read a story in the Washington Post about Idaho Statesman reporter Dan Popkey and how he reported and researched long-time rumors that Craig is gay.

Yes, the Larry Craig story is still a pretty big deal this morning.

But by this afternoon, I have a hunch that it will be eclipsed, at least for a little while, by a little something I like to call Bronco mania.

That’s right. College football is back in session on the Smurf Turf, and we actually do have reporters at the Idaho Statesman who cover non-Craig related stories.

In fact, we’ve got a whole team of people set to provide you with all the info you could possibly want about Boise State football.

Be sure to check out our football page here (and note that the clock is tick, tick, ticking toward this evening’s game).

Yellowstone National Park is the latest most beautiful place featured in a Today Show series.

Click here to read more about the park.

Better yet, plan your own trip. September is my favorite month to visit the park.

The days are warm enough for hiking, the elk begin their mating calls and you’ll be sharing the narrow roads and the trails with a whole lot less people.
