  • Tip!

Be prepared for all kinds of weather in spring. This is the high country.
  • How to get there

From Boise, take I-84 east to the Declo exit. The exit is just past Burley. Head south to Declo and Idaho 77. You'll go through the towns of Albion and Elba to Almo.

A new campground opens Saturday. It's called Smoky Mountain Campground, and it's in Castle Rocks State Park southeast of Burley.

It was funded in part by a grant from the state Recreational Vehicle Program and the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

The new camping area will be a welcomed addition to the City of Rocks National Reserve/Castle Rocks State Park area, which receives more than 85,000 visitors annually.
