Fall in Boise means Art in the Park, the annual community ritual that fills Julia Davis Park with more than 250 fine and craft artists to benefit the Boise Art Museum. This year’s marks the 58th, making it one of the longest-running charity events in the Treasure Valley.
From its opening as the Idaho Territorial Penitentiary in 1872 to its closing as an active prison in 1973, no one wanted to be near the Old Idaho Penitentiary. Now it’s an extremely interesting place to check out.
The lighted cross marks the spot for Boise’s best overlook. Rising nearly 1,000 feet, Table Rock is close enough to see Boise’s neighborhoods and high enough to watch the alpenglow shine on the Foothills.
