The Meridian City Council will delay action on implementing the first city-wide design review guidelines until its meeting on Jan. 27.
Pete Friedman, deputy director of the Meridian Planning Department, said the council elected to delay a vote on the plan when it became apparent that the required ordinance would not be ready for Tuesday night’s meeting.
The new design guidelines are the city’s attempt to shape what Meridian will like in the future.
The guidelines will apply to single-family residential housing and multi-family and commercial projects. They will address everything from site planning to the finished look of a building and how it relates to surrounding structures.
