An Ada County couple was in jail Thursday afternoon after being arrested on felony injury to a child charges, the Ada County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

John Edwin Seekamp, 40, and Dawn Renee Seekamp, 37, who live near Meridian, were taken into custody after a hearing at the Ada County Courthouse. The arrest is the second this week for Dawn Seekamp.

Thursday's charges, which were related to the conditions of the couple's home, were filed as a result of an investigation that began Tuesday when detectives served a search warrant at the home in the 1900 block of Bentley Avenue.

There, detectives said they found deplorable conditions that posed serious health and safety risks to the children living and being cared for there.

Dawn Seekamp had first been arrested Tuesday and charged with felony child abuse and neglect after a mom reported that her 1-year-old's leg was broken while the child was in the Seekamps' care. She was booked into the Ada County Jail on $1 million bond, and she bonded out after the amount was reduced to $100,000 on Wednesday.

The Seekamps had been running the state-licensed Building Blocks Daycare out of the home. In addition to their four children, detectives believe the Seekamps provided day-care services for eight to 10 other children on a daily basis.

John and Dawn Seekamp will be arraigned on the charges Monday when a judge will determine a bond amount.

Anyone with information about Dawn and John Seekamp or the Building Blocks Daycare is asked to call sheriff's Det. Marc Bowman at 577-3704 or Det. Craig Durrell 577-3778.
