Hewlett-Packard kept mum again Thursday about layoffs at its Boise campus. But a worker said 30 employees will lose their jobs next month in a layoff that predates HP's announcement two weeks ago of a reorganization in HP's Imaging and Printing Group.

The 30 employees were told at the end of May that they would lose their jobs Aug. 22, said one of the furloughed workers, who asked not to be identified for fear of reprisals.

HP spokesman Scott Stalla declined to comment.

The 30 employees were notified a few weeks before HP announced June 18 that the Imaging and Printing Group would be reorganized. HP hasn't said whether that will cost more Boise jobs, but the furloughed worker said there is "no question" it will,

The worker said the affected employees have several weeks to find other jobs. The employee still has several weeks of pay and benefits before the job disappears. After that, the employee expects to receive additional money in a severance package.

HP employs about 3,400 people at the campus off Chinden Boulevard.
