Amazon Expedition Vacation Bible School - 9 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Friday, Faith Evangelical Church, 11941 Ustick Road, Boise. A program will be given by the children for their families at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, July 27.

Father John Tarawali from Sierra Leone to speak - 7 p.m. Monday, Parish Hall, St. John's Cathedral, 775 N. 8th St., Boise. Father Tarawali will talk on "Sierra Leone: Challenges for a Better Future."

Learn about the challenges faced by this country after a decadelong civil war, the role of the church in education and community development, and the coexistence of Christian, Muslim and tribal cultures. Information: 484-2493.

Free hot dog lunch - 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Wednesday through September, Hope Lutheran Church, 331 N. Linder Road (corner of Linder and State Street), Eagle. Hot dogs, chips, water and lemonade served. Bags of food from the pantry are available for those in need. Pantry hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
